Erik ten Hag has given his furious verdict on the Marcus Rashford red card and has finally called out some of the poor decisions Manchester United have had to deal with this season.
Manchester United were in control during the first half and looked to be cruising towards the three points but the dismissal of Marcus Rashford understandably led to frustration from the Dutchman.
Erik ten Hag trudged down the pitch at full-time with his eyes firmly fixed on the ground beneath him and it seems the defeat in Denmark could be a killer blow for the Red Devils’ hopes in the Champions League.
The Red Devils have lost 9 out of the 17 games this season, something needs to change otherwise, this will turn into a disastrous season, if it hasn’t reached that stage already.
Ten Hag on red card
Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Ten Hag was, understandably, infuriated with the decision when speaking to the media.
“Not only tonight (decisions going against United),” Ten Hag said. “We have to deal with many decisions against us in other games. That’s how it is. But the season is long. At one point it will turn in our favour.
“It is harsh decision. He was going for the ball. The review was over, then he went up to the screen. I think the referee was not sure.”
Ten Hag questions Copenhagen’s goal
As well as the frustration over Rashford’s sending-off, the goal that halved the deficit for the Danish side in the first half perhaps should have been ruled out.
“The first is offside, there is a player in front of Onana,” the frustrated Dutchman said. It certainly did appear that a Copenhagen player was in Andre Onana’s eye line which stopped the 27-year-old from saving the shot.
Nevertheless, referees can be blamed as much as United like but the harsh reality is that the Red Devils, not for the first time in this Champions League campaign, collapsed and lost in embarrassing fashion.
