Manchester United have broken yet another unwanted record following their 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

Dominic Solanke, Phillip Billing and Marco Senesi netted for Bournemouth in a comfortable win in Manchester which was the first time they have won at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s side were second best all over the pitch and seemed to have no answer to the Cherries’ dominance and the well-drilled side ran out comfortable winners.

It was the Red Devils’ 11th defeat of the season in all competitions and things are certainly looking bleak for the Old Trafford club ahead of a tough week.

United’s broken record

According to a post on X from TNT Sports’ social media account, that loss for the Red Devils against Bournemouth meant that United have now lost more games at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson retired than they ever did during his 26 years in charge at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have now lost 35 games since Ferguson retired at the end of the 2012/2013 season, which is a dismal record for the Red Devils to achieve.

United’s defeat to a rather rampant Cherries side was the first time they’ve suffered as many losses at this stage of a top-flight campaign since 1989/90.

To compound the misery, in all competitions, the side have lost as many matches, 11, as they have won. And they have now been beaten 3-0 three times at home.

Sir Alex won’t be at all impressed with how the club have managed the past decade.

It both shows just how great the former manager was, and how bad the team’s results have been since he left.

Ten Hag’s pressure

The Dutchman’s time in Manchester may well be coming to an end with the fixtures continuing to get tougher for the Red Devils as Bayern Munich visit Old Trafford next week before United take on Liverpool at Anfield.

If Ten Hag’s time in Manchester is to come to an end, you would expect Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos team to make that tough decision.

However, would it truly be a surprise if United won these tough games to ease the pressure on Ten Hag before going on to lose an easier game further on down the line?

Whatever happens, this next week of fixtures could be a defining moment.
