Manchester United have issued an update on injured duo Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen.

The Red Devils released an update on the duo, via the club website, after they suffered injuries against Luton Town at the weekend.

It reads: “Christian has a knee injury that is set to keep him out for around a month, while striker Rasmus suffered a muscle strain. It is hoped he will return before the end of November.”

Injury latest

Rasmus Hojlund looked to have suffered a hamstring problem against Luton and was replaced by Anthony Martial with the Danish striker trudging down the tunnel, which was not a good sign.

As for Christian Eriksen, the midfielder landed awkwardly after a challenge against the Hatters, and was replaced by Mason Mount.

The pair both withdrew from the Denmark national team squad.

Pair miss out

Following the win over Luton Town, Erik ten Hag said that United would find out the extent of the pair’s injury within 24 hours and it seems these scans revealed something concerning.

The pair have both been withdrawn from the national team with the Denmark X account saying early on Monday: “Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund have both suffered injuries and will miss these upcoming games.

“Kasper Hjumland has selected Jesper Lindstrom and Jens Stryger Larsen for these decisive qualifying matches.”

Martial’s chance

It’s easy to forget that Martial has been at the Old Trafford club for nearly a decade, which would mean he would be able to get a testimonial.

The Frenchman will now surely get his chance in the first team if Hojlund’s injury is one that would keep him out of action for any longer than the anticipated end of the month return date.

Martial has been inconsistent but it looks like the former AS Monaco forward could get a chance to lead the line and will need to prove himself to Ten Hag.

The Red Devils return from the international break against Sean Dyche’s Everton at Goodison Park.

There is a chance Hojlund can make it back for ‘the end of November’, but it could be tight and United won’t want to rush him.
