Manchester United forward Antony has revealed he is ‘happy’ with his recent run of games for the Red Devils.
Antony has started four out of the last five games for Manchester United but, as of yet, has failed to register a goal or an assist for the Red Devils this season.
The Brazilian was missing in September which led to Uruguayan winger Facundo Pellistri being given a starting berth against Bayern Munich and Crystal Palace but he failed to impress.
This led to Antony being restored to the starting line-up but the Brazilian has not been productive for United since he has been brought back into the team.
Antony on his determination to win
Despite his struggles in the first team, Antony has been speaking to the United website and the Brazilian has made a rather surprising admission over his form.
“Firstly, I’m really pleased with this run of games,” says the former Ajax winger, who joined the Red Devils for £86 million.
“I was training very hard towards this, and it is a consequence of that work at training. I’m really happy with this run and hope to help and contribute to the team even more.”
One aspect that fans were certainly pleased with when it came to the 22-year-old was his work ethic, particularly during the win over Chelsea at Old Trafford.
“Absolutely, this positive energy is contagious across the whole team,” the winger said when asked if work ethic is important to him.
“I don’t like losing, not even in stone, paper, scissors. This is my spirit. I’ve always been this way and will continue doing it to lift the team up with me and spread this energy.”
Antony has a point to prove
The Brazilian has been under constant pressure this season as the weight of expectation, due to his price tag, looks to be weighing heavily on his mind.
With 0 goals or assists in all competitions this season, the Brazilian will need to start performing otherwise we may reach the stage where the 22-year-old needs replacing.
Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo is reportedly being scouted by the Red Devils, so Antony will have to perform sooner rather than later or risk being dropped.
