Man United fans will love Andre Onana’s response to a petulant Virgil Van Dijk

Virgil Van Dijk has continued his feud following Manchester United’s 0-0 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United were defensively brilliant at Anfield and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were getting more and more frustrated as the game went on.

Liverpool had more of the ball and more of the territory in the game but they failed to create consistent and clear-cut chances against the Red Devils and a point was a more than fair result.

United may feel they were unlucky to not come away from Anfield with more than a point after Rasmus Hojlund had a golden opportunity to give the visitors the lead but was denied by Alisson.

Van Dijk and Onana

Andre Onana was brilliant at Anfield as he showed again why he is beginning to acclimatise himself to the rigours of being a Premier League goalkeeper for United.

Before the match, Onana was defiant that he was more than good enough for the Red Devils and he showed it in Merseyside with a string of fine stops to deny the hosts from striking the killer blow.

As the two sides were walking off, according to Alex Crook of TalkSport, Onana had an exchange with Van Dijk which left the Dutchman annoyed, and United fans will love it.

Van Dijk reportedly told the Cameroon international: “Because of you we only played a half-hour game.”

Onana responded with a smile to the former Southampton defender, refusing to engage further, which will have only enraged the Dutch defender.

Van Dijk had separately been blasted by Roy Keane on Sky after he claimed only one team were trying to win the game.

Onana’s performance

Onana, 27, was in top form for the Red Devils and he more than made up for his previous errors in the Champions League with this performance at Anfield.

He made six saves in the encounter and looked imperious, and this will do his confidence the world of good after a tough few weeks in goal for the Cameroon international.

Onana had another brilliant performance at Goodison Park last month and the hope will be that this clean sheet at Anfield will be the moment he firmly arrived as United’s number one.
