Wild reports have linked wantaway Manchester United star Marcus Rashford with a move to fierce rivals Liverpool.

Marcus Rashford’s time at Manchester United appears to be over after he was frozen out of the squad by Ruben Amorim.

Aston Villa turned down Rashford’s buy option this summer after missing out on Champions League football, and now he is back on the books at Old Trafford.

However, Rashford is not included in pre-season training this summer so he has been arriving at Carrington to train individually as work continues towards finding a new club.

Rashford has been heavily linked to Barcelona, but the Spanish side appear to have other targets ahead of him in their pecking order. Now, a new wild link to Liverpool has emerged…

The rivalry between United and Liverpool is historic and fierce, and Rashford knows that better than most having grown up as a Red Devils youth graduate.

The Merseyside club recently matched United’s 20 league titles tally and will be looking to defend their Premier League crown in 2025/26.

According to the Daily Mail, Rashford has been floated as a potential striker target at Liverpool this summer.

United fans were quick to react on social media, and most couldn’t believe what they were hearing.

“I am flabbergasted. There’s no way,” one fan wrote.

Another added: “It can’t. Absolutely not to Liverpool. The only top 6 team that can have him is Tottenham.”

Even fans who want to see the back of Rashford do not want to see the move go ahead – “I want Rashford gone but to Liverpool is a no no.”

One fan suggested the move would be “breaking every barrier” between the two rivals.

Another claimed he would “give up” on supporting the Red Devils if the deal went ahead – “If United even think about entertaining it then football is over.. I give up with my club!”

Finally, one supporter wrote: “There’s no way, we don’t do business with Liverpool.”

Marcus Rashford once praised Anfield’s environment

Rashford is more than familiar with the heated rivalry between the two clubs, and he will also know the backlash that awaits if he ever made a move to Merseyside.

In 20 games against the Reds, Rashford has scored seven goals against Liverpool, including two in two FA Cup ties.

Reports suggest that Rashford’s preference is to go abroad this summer, so the Liverpool rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt, but he has previously praised the Anfield atmosphere.

Via United’s TikTok account, Rashford was asked the best away atmosphere he has ever experienced and he didn’t hesitate to mention Anfield.
