Marcus Rashford may only have one hope of ever playing for Man Utd again after European preference becomes clear

Marcus Rashford impressed during Aston Villa’s recent Champions League tie against PSG. His contributions weren’t enough to get the Villains into the semi-finals though.

Handed an unexpected lifeline by Unai Emery, Rashford has been allowed to show what he can do at Villa Park until the end of the season.

Villa will have the option to buy him in the summer for £40 million, but there remains a huge amount of uncertainty over the winger’s long-term future.

Where Marcus Rashford wants to play next season

Even though he has done well since joining Villa, Rashford’s preference next season is to join Barcelona.

The Spanish giants were heavily linked with the Manchester United academy graduate in January, but failure to navigate their precarious finances meant they couldn’t agree on a suitable deal.

Seemingly refusing to give up on his chances of playing at the Nou Camp, Rashford, also admired by PSG, is determined to complete his dream transfer.

This could leave Villa at a major disadvantage when it comes to attempting to convince the England international to make the permanent switch.

How Ruben Amorim feels about Rashford’s Man United return

Although Villa Park will likely be a possible destination, Rashford remains a Manchester United player, meaning his future at Old Trafford must be decided before anything else.

And according to talkSPORT, perhaps unsurprisingly, Ruben Amorim is not in favour of reinstating the underperforming wide-man.

Described as “slim”, Rashford has very little chance of ever playing for the current Manchester United manager again.

As a result, Rashford’s best, and potentially, only hope of reigniting his career with his boyhood club is if Sir Jim Ratcliffe sacks Amorim — a very unlikely scenario given the costs involved.
