Erik ten Hag is facing an uphill battle to try and keep hold of his job as Manchester United manager.
All the excitement from Manchester United’s summer transfer window has quickly dwindled after a terrible start to the season.
The Red Devils have only won three of their opening nine games this season which has piled huge pressure on Erik ten Hag.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has given Ten Hag two games to try and turn things around – Thursday’s Europa League clash against Porto and Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa.
If performances and results don’t improve over those two games, Ineos look set to pull the trigger and sack the Dutchman.
Erik ten Hag came close to being sacked before the FA Cup final last season but was handed a one-year extension after beating Manchester City at Wembley.

Erik ten Hag under huge pressure
When Ten Hag was under pressure towards the end of last season, it was an open secret that Ineos held talks with several candidates, including Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino.
Ineos eventually stuck with Ten Hag, but they may soon have to look back at their managerial shortlist if the United boss cannot turn things around.
There will be no shortage of options, with as many as 10 potential Ten Hag replacements being linked with the job.
Ratcliffe is set to attend the Villa game on Sunday, and the British billionaire may end up making a final decision on the night depending on United’s performance.
The United dressing room is still behind Ten Hag, but it will take an almighty turnaround for him to evade the sack in the coming weeks.
Ineos will already have a shortlist of candidates from their interviews in the summer, but it seems one Premier League manager may now be added.
Man United eye Marco Silva as manager option
According to Football Transfers‘ Duncan Castles, Fulham boss Marco Silva is an option that United chiefs are considering if Ten Hag is sacked.
Ten Hag beat Silva’s Fulham side in the Premier League opener this season with Joshua Zirzkee scoring on his debut in the 1-0 win.
But Fulham’s loss to United has been their only defeat this season with the London side now up in sixth in the Premier League table under Silva.

Silva has been at Fulham since 2021 and has a 46 percent win record after winning 69 of his 148 matches in charge. He has drawn 28 and lost 51 during his time at Craven Cottage.
The report suggests that United chiefs are big admirers of the Portuguese boss, who has impressed during his time in England.
