Former Manchester United midfielder Lou Macari has reacted in good spirits after a mock-up of his famous fish and chip shop emerged online.
Macari owns the ‘Lou Macari Fish and Chip Shop’ near Old Trafford, a regular stop-off for fans on matchdays.
Amid talk of a Qatar led takeover of Manchester United , a mock-up emerged online of the shop renamed the ‘Lou Qatari Fish and Chip Shop’.
Macari reacted to say he ‘thought it was hilarious’.

Macari, now 73, made more than 400 appearances for Manchester United between 1972 and 1983, winning the FA Cup in 1977, playing a key role in the decisive goal. He also represented Scotland and had a career in management.
Qatari takeover bid
The Financial Times reports a bid was submitted for Manchester United last week from Qatari investor Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Jaber Al Thani.
The statement read: “The bid plans to return the Club to its former glories both on and off the pitch, and – above all – will seek to place the fans at the heart of Manchester United Football Club once more.
“The bid will be completely debt free via Sheikh Jassim’s Nine Two Foundation, which will look to invest in the football teams, the training centre, the stadium and wider infrastructure, the fan experience and the communities the Club supports.”
The sale of Manchester United is being overseen by The Raine Group on behalf of the Glazers.
