Manchester United star Lisandro Martinez will reflect on 2023/24 as the most mentally and physically challenging of his career.
Lisandro Martinez endured three different injury lay-offs last season which created real difficulties for the team, just part of the injury problems Manchester United had to endure.
When it really counted, Lisandro Martinez was available, starting and playing most of the FA Cup Final, ending with a winners’ medal as Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-1.
Martinez then went on to win the Copa America with Argentina, playing a key role as a starter.
So while it was a difficult season, he ended it with two winners’ medals, ultimately a very successful campaign. Now he wants more.

Lisandro Martinez begins his training
Lisandro Martinez is not on the Manchester United USA tour squad. All of the Euro 2024 and Copa America players who reached the quarter-finals or later rounds have not been included, granted extra rest days.
But just like we saw Diogo Dalot taking part in his own training camp – before meeting up with pal Cristiano Ronaldo, Martinez is stepping up his own activities.
Less than two weeks since the Copa America final, Lisandro Martinez is doing his own workouts.
Martinez shared a picture from Ibiza, wearing Manchester United’s new training kit, doing some work with the football.

Martinez key for next season
With Raphael Varane gone, Manchester United will be looking to Lisandro Martinez for a big 2024/25.
Lisandro Martinez’s injury record is something United will have to factor in, especially after his very active role in the Copa America. The team are right to give him extra recovery time.
But seemingly ‘The Butcher’ is in no mood to rest, and is raring to get going again.
He has seen United sign French wonderkid Leny Yoro, his new potential partner, and will be excited to make his own return and start work.
United fans missed Martinez last season, and we won’t have to wait too much longer to see him back in action.
