Manchester Uniited defender Lisandro Martinez has been pictured running again for the first time after injury.

The centre-back suffered a broken metatarsal in April in the Europa League quarter-final first leg against Sevilla, and missed the remainder of the season.

Now via a video published on his Instagram story reel, Martinez has shown he is back running on the training pitch again.

Martinez is still training abroad, but wore his Manchester United training top, showing his enthusiasm to get back to club activity.

He sat out the recent international break, which saw teammate Alejandro Garnacho make his Argentina debut.

Lisandro Martinez declares full fitness

Lisandro Martinez has added to his encouraging training video by declaring he is back at full health.

He wrote on Twitter: “So happy to be back 100%”

Martinez will be among the first set of players due back for pre-season training at Carrington in early July.

A second group, who featured in the recent international break, will return a week later.

Manchester United’s first pre-season game is against Leeds on July 12.

Martinez was one of the team’s best players in 2023/24, bringing a new type of spirit and aggression to an improved defence, with his combative displays.

It feels like he has been out a long time, so it is encouraging to see he is back at full health.

This will be Martinez’s first pre-season with Manchester United, with his transfer from Ajax concluded after the club’s tour of Asia last summer.

So far there are no new arrivals yet this window, and while that’s disappointing so far, seeing Martinez back to full health is one reason to smile.
