Lisandro Martinez pictured at Argentina training ahead of Honduras fixture

Lisandro Martinez has been pictured at Argentina training after finally making it to Miami to join the squad.

The temporary closure of the US embassy in the UK due to the Queen’s death scuppered his visa application, and Martinez took the drastic measure to fly to Argentina to get it sorted.

After a long haul flight, Martinez has joined the Argentina squad ahead of their fixture with Honduras.

Unclear whether Martinez will feature for Argentina v Honduras

It is uncertain whether Martinez will play a role for Argentina against Honduras in the upcoming fixture, which kicks off at 1am on Saturday.

This is because the Manchester United defender will have only had one training session ahead of the game, and may not be deemed in peak condition to play.

Martinez could feature instead in Argentina’s game with Jamaica in New York at 1am on Wednesday.

From a United perspective, it would be better if Martinez played neither, but having finally linked up with the squad, manager Lionel Scaloni will likely pick him at some stage.

By time the international break is over, Martinez will have racked up 17,500 miles in flights from his journey to Argentina, up to America and back to Manchester.

With a derby up next away at Manchester City, this certainly is not ideal.
