Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez is doing everything he can to be in top shape for his return.

It’s been a horrendous season for Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez, who has barely played.

United’s best run of form came at the start of 2024 in January and February, and it’s no coincidence that this was when Martinez was in the line-up.

He then suffered a MCL injury, before returning and picking up a calf injury. He is still out, although hopes to return in time for the FA Cup final.

Two players returned to training this week with Anthony Martial and Jonny Evans spotted back at Carrington.

Lisandro Martinez hopes to join them soon, and is doing all he can to be ready as soon as possible.

The Argentina international has shared an image after working out, alongside model girlfriend Muri Lopez.

Martinez looked ripped, clearly in great shape, as he builds his fitness and rehabilitates his injury and looks to move past his worrying injury record.

Manchester United centre-backs battling for places

Harry Maguire has been Manchester United’s only fit centre-back over the past few weeks, with Casemiro partnering him.

Evans and Martinez were joined on the sidelines by Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane and Willy Kambwala.

All of them are hoping to be back in time for the cup final, and will be competing to partner Maguire.

Martinez might have to settle for a place on the bench, but much will depend on how soon he can return, what he can show, and whether he can prove his match fitness.
