Manchester United centre-back Lisandro Martinez suffered an injury against West Ham United. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
Lisandro Martinez was forced off in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over the Hammers at Old Trafford and fans were devastated over the blow to the Red Devils star.
Erik ten Hag admitted after the match that Martinez’s injury was concerning and was another major blow after the ex-Ajax star’s recent return from the sideline.
Now a new injury update has emerged, which gives us further information on the severity and how it will affect Manchester United going forward.

How bad is Lisandro Martinez’s injury?
Gastón Edul, an Argentinian journalist, reported on the 5th of February 2024 the following:
Lisandro Martínez has a sprained collateral ligament. The worst scenario has been ruled out. It is between a month and a half and two months of recovery. He does not need surgery.
This is the latest update on Martinez’s injury currently.
What games will he miss?
Assuming the worst for the Argentine of two months out – here are the games he’ll miss for Manchester United.
- Sunday 11th February 2024: Aston Villa vs Manchester United
- Sunday 18th February 2024: Luton vs Manchester United
- Saturday 24th February 2024: Manchester United vs Fulham
- Wednesday 28th February 2024: Bristol City/Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United
- Sunday 3rd of March 2024: Manchester City vs Manchester United
What is his predicted return date?
So, again we are using a two-month time span – so this would mean he’d be set to make his Manchester United return against Everton at Old Trafford on Saturday the 9th of March 2024.
He will be set to return to Carrington before then in first-team training. Bear in mind this is the worst-case scenario – he could be back for the Manchester Derby! Fingers crossed.
