Luke Shaw ended up providing the match winning assist in Manchester United’s 2-1 victory at home to Crystal Palace.

Shaw’s low cross was converted by England international teammate Marcus Rashford, who netted his 19th goal of the season.

This was Shaw’s third assist of the season, with the defender back to his more natural left-back position after an impressive run at centre-back.

Defensively, Shaw really had to dig in late on as United held off a resurgent Palace after being reduced to 10 men.

Shaw praised

Shaw sent a short message on Instagram after United’s victory, hailing the ‘team spirit’ which saw the side hold on to grab all three points.

His teammates didn’t disappoint, with Marcus Rashford sending Shaw a message to thank him for the assist.

Lisandro Martinez also reached out, lauding Shaw as a ‘top top player’.

Martinez knows just how good Shaw is, playing alongside him on the left-side of Manchester United’s defence for much of the season.

He even had to watch from the bench for most of the Manchester derby with Shaw keeping him sidelined when he filled in at centre-half.

Shaw’s performances have been worthy of praise in recent months, but compliments from his World Cup winning teammate will mean a lot more than most.
