Manchester United’s stars are beginning the week afresh and looking ahead after a frustrating result against Southampton.

United were held 0-0 at Old Trafford with star man Casemiro sent off, a decision the club have confirmed they will NOT appeal.

Next up is an away tie against Real Betis in the Europa League, with United already 4-1 up from the first leg.

Then on Sunday, United are in action in the FA Cup, hosting Fulham in the quarter-finals.

Fernandes and Martinez messages

Two of Manchester United’s top stars have sent out uplifting messages as they look to get back on track.

Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martinez are keen to help the team to two more wins before the international break.

Martinez wrote on Instagram: “On to a new week full of motivation. Let’s go.”

Fernandes posted: “Only positive thinking. Already focused on the next match.”

It is good for Manchester United’s players to look ahead. The draw at the weekend was very frustrating because of the sense of injustice to it.

Casemiro’s red card was followed by three penalty appeals being turned down, and then Alejandro Garnacho suffering an injury.

If United’s players spend energy looking back at it, they will end up consumed by anger at how it all went down. Setting it aside and starting afresh is the right move.
