Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has been missing throughout the start of the new Premier League season with the teenager suffering an injury against Real Madrid.

The youngster was seen as potentially the next player to break through the club’s famed youth academy and there was hope that Kobbie Mainoo could be the man to solve some of the midfield issues.

Well, there has been an update on the fitness of the midfielder who could well be needed soon due to the dire start of some of the midfielder’s in his position.

According to the Daily Mail, however, the midfielder isn’t quite ready yet for a return to the first team and he is still some time away from returning.

Will Mainoo feature this season

What is quite clear from United’s first few pre-season games is that Mainoo will seemingly be heavily involved this season when he returns from injury.

The 18-year-old has a lot of pressure on his shoulders and there may need to be a tempering of expectations with some fans seemingly believing that the teenager will solve all of United’s midfield problems, but that is unrealistic.

Mainoo will feature in some Premier League games and some European games but it seems unlikely that the midfielder will be starting every single week for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Nonetheless, speaking last month, Ten Hag promised Mainoo will get chances. He told a press conference: “Not in one month, but in two months, he will be available. And so, for the winter [that] is coming up, he absolutely will have his games.

Amrabat availability

One of the reasons why Mainoo may not feature as much is due to the deadline-day loan signing of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

The Moroccan midfielder joined the club for an initial loan with an option to buy inserted in the deal.

According to the Daily Mail, the midfielder, who was unable to play for Morocco over the international break due to an injury issue, has trained this week ahead of tomorrow’s game against Brighton & Hove Albion.

If the Moroccan is fit enough to start for the Red Devils, then you suspect he’ll be in from the start for Ten Hag’s side.
