Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman has opened up about Manchester United ahead of the final Champions League group stage game.
For Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United, the task is a very simple one, the Red Devils have to beat Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich to have any chance of qualification from the Champions League group stage and hope that FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray draw.
Bayern have 13 points from their 15 games in the group and have already achieved qualification to the next round of the competition and there was hope the German side would rest players for the encounter.
However, the Bavarian side have taken a strong squad with them to Old Trafford so expect to see them play at full strength.
Coman on United
One player who is almost certain to start is Kingsley Coman, the Frenchman will start for the Bavarian side due to Serge Gnabry’s injury and he has been speaking about United’s struggles in Europe.
“It’s not a surprise because I know the Champions League is hard,” Coman told Sky Sports News. “I know they are a good team but I knew Galatasaray were a good team as well. Galatasaray bought some good players that were used to playing at a high level. I was surprised by Copenhagen, they are really good.
“I knew it wouldn’t be as easy as people thought, Champions League is never easy.”
The Frenchman is certainly right, the group has not been an easy one for the Red Devils. Despite this, they really should have gotten out of this group.
United’s big game
This is arguably the biggest game of the season for the Red Devils, not just for their fate in the Champions League but also for the fate of Ten Hag.
The Dutchman is under severe pressure with his team being booed off the pitch at full-time during the side’s 3-0 defeat to Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth.
A win against the Bavarian side would surely be the boost the club needs and if they were to get into the knockout stages too, that would be massive for the season.
