Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier has expressed his congratulations to Manchester United following the Carabao Cup final.
Manchester United won 2-0 at Wembley, clinching the first trophy of the domestic season.
For Newcastle, simply making the final was an achievement in itself, but this does not make it any easier for them to lose.
Casemiro and Marcus Rashford scored the goals, with the second awarded to the England striker after originally being credited as an own goal.

Trippier congratulates Manchester United
Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier was gracious in defeat and congratulated Manchester United in his post-match message.
The defender wrote on Instagram: “I thought we gave everything today, unfortunately it wasn’t enough. Congrats to Manchester Utd. On a personal note, @nufc fans you was absolutely incredible today, we will come again. Thank you.”
Trippier could easily have been a Manchester United player. He was targeted by the club under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but there was no deal done with Atletico Madrid.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Manchester United’s right-backs both did an impressive job at Wembley, with Diogo Dalot playing the first 45 minutes and Aaron Wan-Bissaka the second half, after the Portuguese defender picked up a booking.
There is a real healthy competition between the duo for places, which exists throughout the side, with Erik ten Hag maximising his squad and fostering a strong team spirit which was sorely lacking last season.
