Manchester United should be playing hardball with Barcelona as they’re rumoured to be interested in Jadon Sancho.
According to a report from Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona are very keen on Sancho. They have been alerted to his availability but will not be able to sign him until next summer if they were to pull the trigger.
The man who arrived from Borussia Dortmund for £73m has not featured for Manchester United since the 26th of August 2023, following a major bust-up with Erik ten Hag.
This means he will likely leave in the near future, with the Catalan club being one of the potential destinations. However, United shouldn’t just let him leave without playing a little hardball.

United need to remember Frenkie de Jong saga
The report states this is due to the money troubles that Barcelona have had which has caused them problems in the past.
This looked to be the reason why a move for Frenkie De Jong seemed possible for United back in the summer of 2022.
Eventually, it just became a monumental waste of time with Barcelona proving to be difficult in negotiations.
One week he was available, the next he wasn’t and it grew really tiresome as a Manchester United fan.
It also must have been chaotic for Ten Hag. De Jong was his number one target and he must’ve wasted so much time trying to make this deal happen.
Eventually, as we know, United moved on – but we shouldn’t forget this when it comes to a potential Sancho deal.
United should play hardball
Despite the fact he evidently wants to leave and his value will have massively depreciated, United shouldn’t just let Sancho go for pennies.
The winger is still a young prospect and we should try to recoup as much of the hefty fee as possible.
If Barca are the front-runners, we can’t be empathetic due to their lack of funds. United need to be stricter with their transfer business and this deal could be a good place to start.
