Jose Mourinho will always be remembered as a charismatic Manchester United manager.

The Portuguese coach came to Manchester United when they were a team in crisis. He brought a special aura to Old Trafford, bringing in superstars like Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

He brought Manchester United fans a lot of joy with the Europa League and Carabao Cup win – and will always be remembered as still the most successful manager post-Sir Alex Ferguson.

His time at the club did end sourly, but he remains on good terms with the club to this day.

Jose Mourinho spoke on The Obi One Podcast about his time at Manchester United and delved into his relationship with current United CEO, Richard Arnold. He was a huge fan and continues to be.

“Then they still have now one CEO who is an amazing person,” Mourinho begins. “That is Richard Arnold, who now looks potentially to be leaving.

“I had him as a Commercial Director, not a CEO, and I would love to have had him on my side in my time there, but the club wasn’t easy”.

Arnold moved into the role of CEO back in 2022 when he succeeded Ed Woodward, who Mourinho had to deal with. Maybe things would have ended better for Mourinho if Arnold had been alongside him.

Richard Arnold is leaving…

Manchester United chief executive Richard Arnold is to leave the club by the end of the year.

He is to leave after just two years in the job as United’s owners finalise the sale of the minority stake to Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Paul Mitchell and Jean-Claude Blanc have been linked with roles at the club if Murtough and Arnold are to leave Old Trafford come the end of 2023.

It always seemed likely that when Ratcliffe had agreed to purchase 25 per cent of the Old Trafford club it was a matter of time before Arnold would be out the door.

The one ‘amazing’ figure left at the club according to Mourinho will no longer be there come the new dawn at Manchester United. His successor should be announced shortly.
