Manchester United are preparing to embark on a new era with billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to invest in the club.

BBC Sport report a key condition of Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s planned investment is for control of football operations at the club.

Ratcliffe has maneuvered into pole position, with his 25 per cent offer now considered a formality, with Sheikh Jassim withdrawing interest.

Now questions are being posed about what the new era Manchester United may look like, with Gary Neville listing 16 queries he wants answers to.

Jean-Claude Blanc linked to Man Utd

According to The Times, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos may have a candidate in mind to overhaul Manchester United’s approach.

Former Paris Saint-Germain chief executive Jean-Claude Blanc began working with Ineos back in February.

The Times report Blanc is a ‘potential new chief executive’ at Manchester United.

The report adds: “Blanc spent 12 years at PSG during their boom years so knows about the challenges of running an ambitious club.”

Jean-Claude Blanc left PSG in 2022. He worked as Juventus chief executive between 2009 and 2011, where he led the Italian club’s turnaround after the scandal which saw them relegated.

He has also had senior roles in cycling, tennis, motor sport, and even the winter Olympics.

Richard Arnold under pressure

Current chief executive Richard Arnold is under pressure, in part due to the disastrous handling of the Mason Greenwood saga.

But the questions over his role run deeper than that. Arnold was a lieutenant for Ed Woodward, and is still seen as a product of that previous regime, handed an upwards promotion, rather than being a ‘best in class’ hire from elsewhere.

Last week a pundit for NBC Sports demanded a total overhaul at Manchester United, calling on Woodward and John Murtough to be axed.

The role of both will be under scrutiny now, whether it is Blanc, or another name, who comes in to replace him.
