Jose Mourinho says he could still win Premier League title medal with Manchester United, he isn’t giving up

Jose Mourinho has shared an opinion that he could still win Manchester United a Premier League despite leaving the club nearly six years ago.

Manchester United haven’t won a Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson‘s departure over a decade ago.

However, the club have finished as runners-up twice, both times to Manchester City.

One of these came under Jose Mourinho and now the legendary Portuguese coach has explained that he still thinks he could possibly win a Premier League title with United.

Mourinho isn’t giving up on winning a Premier League title with Manchester United

Speaking on the VIBE with FIVE podcast, Mourinho made a shocking revelation while discussing the fact that his second-place finish with United was his best achievement.

He explained that this was due to the structure at the club being tricky and disorganised – despite his positive views on Ed Woodward – before he added that second place could yet become first place.

“Maybe there is a chance we win that league no? If Man City is caught in Financial Fair Play breaking the rules, maybe they lose a few points and we win that title. We did the best we could do.”

This is a hint at the fact Man City still have 115 charges to answer for with possible titles being stripped a punishment which has been suggested in the past.

This would be incredible if it ever did happen and would likely see United’s 20 league titles become 23.

Mourinho on winning the Europa League with United

While he might not have won the Premier League for United, he did win the Europa League, this is a feat he’s now argued was a remarkable accomplishment due to the quality of his team.

“It was a hell of a job you know, in the first season to win the Europa League was great, to qualify for the Champions League was great too.

“If you remember your Man United and you look at the team that played in that European final with me, if you want to make a joke we’ll make a joke; [Sergio] Romero, [Antonio] Valencia, Daley Blind, Chris Smalling, [Matteo] Darmian, [Ander] Herrera, [Paul] Pogba, [Marouane] Fellaini, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford, [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan.”

Mourinho then compared that side to the teams of United past. He said: “Do you want to say, Rio Ferdinand, [Nemanja] Vidic, [Wayne] Rooney, [Cristiano] Ronaldo, [Edwin] Van der Sar, Paul Scholes you know, you wanna go we can go so we did great, we did a second position.”
