Jonny Evans has revealed three Manchester United academy players have the mentality to succeed at Old Trafford.
It’s been a tough season for Manchester United and Erik ten Hag as the positive debut campaign for the Dutchman at Old Trafford has been undone by a season, so far, of pretty much everything going wrong.
United are out of the Champions League, out of the Carabao Cup, that they won last season, have had a huge injury crisis and their £73 million winger has been exiled by the manager.
Perhaps the only aspect of the club this season that has been positive is the academy players who have featured for the Red Devils.

Evans highlights three academy stars
Speaking to the United website, the 35-year-old defender Jonny Evans was asked for his thoughts on the three academy players who have broken through this season.
Kobbie Mainoo, Dan Gore and Willy Kambwala have been the real breakout stars of this season for United with Ten Hag rewarding these young stars with chances.
Mainoo has been the particular standout but French defender Kambwala made his debut against West Ham United at the London Stadium and looked impressive.
One man who knows what it takes to break through into the United first team is Evans and he was full of praise for the academy trio.
“I think having a good attitude as a young player allows you to progress and you get to a certain period,” Evans said.
“The three of them (Gore, Mainoo and Kambwala) have got it. Every time they come into training, they show great character and application.”
Trio could be key for United future
It’s not often at Old Trafford that there is a crop of academy talent as good as the Red Devils currently have at this moment in time.
After the under-18s won the FA Youth Cup in 2022, multiple names from this squad have emerged, namely Alejandro Garnacho and Mainoo.
There are some serious talent in the academy setup currently with Jack Fletcher, Darren Fletcher’s son, catching the eye at this moment in time.
Ten Hag has to embrace the academy setup and cast his eye on the latest crop of youngsters hoping to make a name for themselves at Old Trafford.
