Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher revealed where he stood on one huge call that has not been made at Manchester United amid the 2025-26 Premier League season.
Manchester United will finally return to Premier League action on the weekend for the first time since the start of the September international break.
Ruben Amorim and his men were able to pick up their first win of the 2025-26 campaign ahead of the break, with United beating Burnley at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils collected all three Premier League points after Bruno Fernandes converted the winning penalty in United’s 3-2 win over Burnley in August.
However, United manager Ruben Amorim now faces a major test for the Red Devils’ two forthcoming Premier League matches in the post-international break.
United will travel to the Etihad to face Manchester City on late Saturday afternoon before hosting Chelsea in the Premier League at Old Trafford on 20th September.

Jamie Carragher enters the Man Utd debate and pinpoints his marker on the major ‘decision’ at Old Trafford
Manchester United are ninth in the Premier League table ahead of the first Manchester derby of the 2025-26 campaign under manager Ruben Amorim.
Amorim already saw the pressure pile up early in the season after United’s shock defeat to Grimsby Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup last month.
Jamie Carragher watched as a member of The Overlap audience suggested the reason why Amorim would still be at the Red Devils at the end of the season.
It was claimed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe would do everything in his power to keep hold of United manager Amorim to avoid being ‘wrong’ about the decision made at the club.
Liverpool legend Carragher ruled out the influence of Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe and suggested United CEO Omar Berrada would likely have the final say on Amorim.
Sitting alongside Paul Scholes, he said: “I’m not sure it was his [Ratcliffe] decision [to keep Amorim].
“I think a lot’s made of… no, what I think… I think it’s Berrada [decision].”
Man Utd CEO Omar Berrada has already shown his true colours on Ruben Amorim after the former Sporting CP manager’s arrival
Omar Berrada was widely hailed for his influence at City Football Group and his work behind the scenes at Manchester City ahead of his United arrival in 2024.
The United CEO previously worked with Pep Guardiola and Berrada boldly admitted there were similarities between the City boss and United head coach Amorim.
“It was difficult in Pep’s first year,” Berrada told the United We Stand magazine in June.
“He didn’t win anything, and there was suspicion about whether he could implement his football vision in the Premier League.
“People said he was arrogant and wouldn’t change his style of play. But he stuck to his principles.”
United’s showdown with 13th-place City in the Premier League clash on Sunday is slated for a 4:30pm kick-off time in the UK.
