Aaron Wan-Bissaka came out on top in his duel with Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma in the FA Cup semi-final.

It was a battle which intrigued neutral fans along with supporters of Manchester United and Brighton. Would the breakout winger of the Premier League season be able to get the better of the best one on one defender in the league?

Kaoru Mitoma has caused major headaches for Premier League teams during Brighton’s season, scoring a winner against Liverpool, and netting nine goals plus four assists.

But against Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mitoma was completely neutralised at Wembley.

Wan-Bissaka praised

Aaron Wan-Bissaka won the duel comfortably. Mitoma did not get past him a single time and the only time he enjoyed any kind of success was when he ran inside and dribbled towards the centre, away from Wan-Bissaka.

The Manchester United defender’s qualities were noted by Premier League playmaker James Maddison, who is valued at £60 million, report Teamtalk.

Maddison commented via Twitter that he thought Wan-Bissaka was ‘ridiculously good’ and the ‘best in the world’ at one on one defending.

This comes after Peter Schmeichel recently lauded Wan-Bissaka as one of the ‘best defenders ever’.

The right-back has had an excellent 2023, re-emerging as a regular for Manchester United and giving his career a new lease of life.
