Jadon Sancho received a heartfelt message from one Manchester United teammate after he made an impact on his Chelsea debut against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The 24-year-old winger sealed his move away from Old Trafford in the summer after Chelsea agreed a season-long loan deal with Manchester United.

Chelsea’s deal to sign Jadon Sancho includes an obligation to buy the United loanee next summer, with the fee believed to be between £20m to £25m.

Sancho had featured for United during the pre-season tour in the summer after returning from his six-month loan spell at Borussia Dortmund.

The Chelsea attacker had been reintegrated into the United first team after manager Erik ten Hag and Sancho appeared to set aside their differences.

However, Sancho had not featured in United’s first three Premier League matches of the season ahead of his move to Premier League side Chelsea.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund ace had come off the bench in the Community Shield clash and missed a penalty in the shootout defeat to Manchester City at Wembley last month.

Sancho makes Chelsea debut

Jadon Sancho had fallen down the pecking order at Manchester United after his return from loan, despite being brought back into the fold by Erik ten Hag.

Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho have both established themselves as Ten Hag’s preferred picks for a winger out on the right ahead of Sancho this season.

Sancho, who had publicly fallen out with Ten Hag last season, missed Euro 2024 in Germany with England after failing to impress in the 2023-24 campaign.

The England international started on the bench for Chelsea’s 1-0 Premier League win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on the weekend.

Sancho came off the bench after the break and replaced Pedro Neto, with the United loanee making an impact for Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

The Three Lions star picked up his first Chelsea assist after he set up Christopher Nkunku for the Blues’ winner in the 86th minute of the contest.

Following on from the match, Sancho wrote on Instagram: “Delighted to make my [Chelsea] debut, and to top it off with a win!”
