England legend Wayne Rooney has spotlighted one key talking point about Manchester United’s upcoming Premier League clash against Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
Ruben Amorim and the Red Devils will be heading to the Gtech Community Stadium on the back of Manchester United’s 2-1 Premier League win over Chelsea last week.
United avoided a late scare against Chelsea to seal all three Premier League points, with both teams playing the second half at Old Trafford with 10 men each.
The Red Devils’ result at Old Trafford last Saturday was only the club’s second win of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign under United manager Ruben Amorim.
United are 11th in the Premier League table after their opening five league matches, while Brentford are 17th and are only one point clear of the relegation zone.

Wayne Rooney played under former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho in the tail end of his legendary Manchester United playing spell at Old Trafford.
However, the 39-year-old former United and England striker crossed paths with Jose Mourinho and the Portuguese coach’s formidable Chelsea sides of the past.
United legend Rooney suggested that Chelsea were “easier” to play against when Mourinho left and made a direct comparison with Thomas Frank leaving Brentford.
“I think sometimes the chance of managers is a big thing as well,” he told BBC Sport’s The Wayne Rooney Show.
“I felt when Mourinho left Chelsea that it started to become a little bit easier for us to play against them.
“So, and with Mourinho, you look at his home record he had before he was at Chelsea and he was always difficult to beat.
“So, and then I think with Thomas Frank leaving Brentford, it’s different. I said it last year […].”

Thomas Frank left Brentford at the end of the 2024-25 Premier League campaign and replaced Ange Postecoglou as the head coach of Tottenham in the summer.
The Bees were dealt a further blow in the summer with the different key players sold, including United signing Bryan Mbeumo in July for an initial fee of £65m.
Rooney believes that United will arrive at the Gtech Community Stadium “confident” and has backed the Red Devils to secure all three Premier League points.
When asked about the ‘psychological aspect’ of Jose Mourinho’s departure from Chelsea, Rooney added: “Yeah, definitely.
“And I think with Thomas Frank not being there, I think Brentford are a little bit different this season. They’ve lost some of the bigger players.
“So, yeah, I think and United coming off the win against Chelsea should be going there confident. So, I’m fully expecting to go there and get three points.”
United and Brentford’s Premier League clash on Saturday is slated for a 12:30pm kick-off time in the UK at the Gtech Community Stadium.
