Erik ten Hag has been making changes at Carrington as he attempts to get the very best out of his Manchester United squad.

The Manchester United manager finds himself under huge pressure after breaking the record for the club’s worst-ever start to a Premier League season.

However, Erik ten Hag appears to have avoided being sacked after United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe gave him two games to turn things around.

Ten Hag led United to successive draws away to Porto and Aston Villa.

United’s hierarchy met in London on Tuesday and Ten Hag’s future was said to be a major talking point, but there is yet to be any suggestion that club chiefs plan to sack him.

News from Carrington also suggests that Ineos are still backing Ten Hag and investing in his ideas – even if they are a little whacky.

Ineos sanction £200,000 Carrington change

Manchester United announced in June that £50m has been invested to refurbish Carrington and modernise the club’s training facilities.

But during construction work, Ten Hag and his squad have been forced to train in a slightly more exposed area.

According to the Daily Mail, a giant white wall has been erected in the past fortnight at Carrington to hide United’s training sessions from view.

It was an idea hatched by Ten Hag and was sanctioned by Ineos at a staggering cost of £200,000.

The report adds that the cost of the wall has “raised eyebrows” among club staff given that there was a mass cost-cutting measure carried out by the new ownership this summer.

Erik ten Hag is running out of excuses

Ten Hag appears to have survived the sack over the October international break, but that doesn’t mean his job is secure.

He will still be under intense scrutiny likely for the remainder of the season, and that is because Ten Hag is out of excuses.

Ten Hag’s latest excuse was the lack of depth at left-back, but the answer to the left-back issue is staring him in the face.

The Dutchman is now into his third season as United manager and the same criticism remains – United lack a clear style of play.

That is something he will have to improve on this season, hopefully this £200,000 white wall helps to achieve that.
