Manchester United are on a strong run of form at an ideal time to impress new investors Ineos.
There are many reasons you could suggest for Manchester United‘s return to form. It was perhaps inevitable the team would go on a run eventually, while breakthrough star Kobbie Mainoo has played a part. The return of Casemiro from injury is another reason.
The recent confirmed investment from Ineos is another factor. The group have been active at Carrington and Old Trafford, giving talks to players, and lifting the mood around the club.
Perhaps it’s a coincidence results have improved. But in any case, it has made for a happy honeymoon period for the new investors, who can feel positive about the talent level at the club, and refrain from a total clear out.
Diogo Dalot impresses
According to a new report in The Mail, the recent performances of Diogo Dalot have ‘caught the eye’ collectively among the Ineos group.
Dalot has been a reliable performer for United this season, and earned high praise after his match-winning assist for Scott McTominay‘s winner against Aston Villa.
Rio Ferdinand told this week how former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo assured him Dalot would develop into a top player, and we are beginning to see it.
Dalot was a £19 million signing from Porto in 2018 under Jose Mourinho and has gradually been improving his game.
Ineos are also very pleased with the trio of exciting young players, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund.
Mainoo and Garnacho were part of the 2022 FA Youth Cup winning side, while Atalanta have reportedly been in touch over Hojlund to remind United they got a bargain.
There are more talents coming through the system too, with Willy Kambwala making his debut late last year and getting personal attention from his manager recently, while young attacker Ethan Williams was recently pictured in first team training.
Gary Neville praised Diogo Dalot
Diogo Dalot’s performances were praised this week by former Red Devils right-back Gary Neville.
Neville was quoted by club media: “I wouldn’t be too quickly looking to change him. I think he’s something to work with.
“Is he the best in the world? No. But has he got the potential to be? He’s delivering at the moment, but has he got the potential to be a top full-back? Yes.
“Dalot, I think, is someone that you talk about [in terms of the future]. Could he be the one where you think: ‘Give him that shot.'”
There are much bigger positions of priority for Ineos to address than right-back, although a decision is due over Aaron Wan-Bissaka‘s contract.
