What Atalanta CEO is now regularly telling Manchester United about £64m Rasmus Hojlund deal

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is thriving in the Premier League right now after a slow start.

Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown summed it up well recently when he said Rasmus Hojlund is giving the club ‘exactly what they wanted’.

Hojlund has 11 goals and two assists this season, one more goal than he managed at Atalanta all of last season.

A lot has been asked of the young striker since he joined from the Serie A side last summer, and he has been rising to the challenge in recent weeks, giving the club plenty of reason to be positive about the future.

How much Manchester United paid for Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United spent £64 million to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta last summer, a fee which could later rise to £72 million including various add-ons.

United had originally wanted to pay around £40 million for Hojlund, per Goal, who later reported Atalanta wanted £86 million, which equated to 100 million Euros.

The eventual £64 million fee was marginally above the £60 million ‘limit’ set by Manchester United, per ESPN.

Atalanta have been in touch with Manchester United

Atalanta remain in contact with Manchester United, and have been keen to make one thing clear about Rasmus Hojlund.

According to The Athletic, Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi is constantly reminding United football director that the Red Devils got a bargain.

Manchester United fans may be beginning to agree. Hojlund is only 21 and has just scratched the surface of his potential.

United beat Paris Saint-Germain to his signature, and this week Spanish outlet Defensa Central claimed Real Madrid want to sign him this summer.

Real have no chance, Hojlund is very happy at United, but you can bet his market value has gone up since last summer.

And last month, the CIES Football Observatory claimed Hojlund is now worth £85 million. Top strikers are hard to find, Manchester United know this well. The Dane looks like an astute buy.
