Rasmus Hojlund has already won over former Premier League winner Martin Keown with the Manchester United striker proving himself to be ‘the real deal’.
If Erik ten Hag can harness the undoubted potential of a Marcus Rashford – Rasmus Hojlund partnership, then better days should be just around the corner for an out-of-sorts Manchester United.
Ten Hag’s new-look front-two certainly offered a tantalising glimpse of a brighter future against Galatasaray in midweek. Rashford crossing brilliantly for Hojlund to score his maiden Old Trafford goal. His first of a Champions League brace.

And Keown has seen enough from the £64 million summer signing already to suggest that he could be United’s best route out of their recent malaise.
Rasmus Hojlund impressing at Manchester United
“(United) look better when they go into the big man up top. I’m very impressed with Hojlund,” says Keown, the Arsenal legend speaking to talkSPORT (6 October, 10.30am).
“He looks the real deal. It was a very good goal scored (against Galatasaray), with the ball in from Rashford. Quite magnificent.”
Hojlund already has three goals in United colours. Only the tightest of VAR decisions denied him another against Brighton and Hove Albion in September.
One Red Devils legend, meanwhile, feels there are striking similarities between the 20-year-old poacher – all pace, power and finesse – and another modern-day United great. A striker Keown once found himself getting to grips with in a very literal sense.
‘A bit of Van Nistelrooy in him’
“He is the type of forward who thrives off crosses across the box,” Paul Scholes tells TNT Sport (4 October, (10pm). “And he took (his first goal) really well.
“I loved his second goal too. There is a bit of Ruud Van Nistelrooy in him.”
Hojlund’s brilliant effort in the second half – running the length of the Galatasaray half before clipping home beautifully – certainly stirred up memories of Van Nistelrooy’s own solo stunner against Fulham all those years ago.
