Two of Ruben Amorim’s key first-team Manchester United players who are injured showed their true feelings after the 2-1 Premier League win over Chelsea on Saturday.

Manchester United have climbed to 10th place in the Premier League table and Ruben Amorim picked up his second win of the 2025-26 season so far.

The Red Devils hosted the Blues at Old Trafford on Saturday evening and United produced a dominating display against Chelsea in the first half of the contest.

Chelsea were reduced to 10 men early on after Robert Sanchez was sent off before Bruno Fernandes found the back of the net for United’s opener in the first half.

Following on from Bruno Fernandes breaking the deadlock for United against Chelsea, Casemiro had an impact on the match both in positive and negative ways.

Casemiro netted United’s second of the contest in the 37th minute before the Brazil star was sent off deep into first-half injury time for a second bookable offence.

The spine-tingling reactions of Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez after Man Utd’s win vs Chelsea at Old Trafford

Manchester United weathered a late scare against Chelsea in the second half after Trevoh Chalobah headed a powerful header past Altay Bayindir at Old Trafford.

Chelsea reduced the deficit against United on Saturday evening, but Ruben Amorim’s men held on to their advantage and secured all three Premier League points.

United manager Amorim confirmed ahead of the Chelsea match that both Lisandro Martinez and Diogo Dalot were ruled out of action this weekend due to injuries.

The Daily Mail reporter Nathan Salt was at Old Trafford and captured the exact moment that United secured their 2-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League.

Nathan Salt shared the footage on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, with Lisandro Martinez and Diogo Dalot both celebrating the victory.

Martinez could be seen applauding United’s performance with a subdued reaction, while Dalot was more visible with his excitement and was spotted fist-pumping.

Ruben Amorim knows exactly what he is missing with the injury absences of Lisandro Martinez and Diogo Dalot

Diogo Dalot withdrew from the Portugal squad due to injury during the September break and Noussair Mazraoui was deployed as the right wing-back for the Chelsea match.

Lisandro Martinez has been a long-term injury absentee and missed the second of the 2024-25 season after picking up a cruciate ligament injury in his knee.

United manager Amorim talked up the importance of Martinez, who is undergoing his rehabilitation, ahead of the Red Devils’ 2-1 win over Chelsea on the weekend.

“It’s really important [that Martinez is nearing a return],” he said at his pre-match press conference on Friday, as per the Manchester Evening News.

Amorim added: “When you have that injury, you recover a lot of times very fast and then there is a boring part where it looks like you don’t go to the next step.

“We miss Licha a lot. We miss the aggression in this moment, how aggressive he is [in] everything he does; we miss him.

“But he’s always there in every meeting, even in training, he stays there to watch the training. I think we need Licha in this team.”

Martinez has not received a return date for United and the 27-year-old Argentine defender is unlikely to play for his side ahead of the October international break.
