How Ruben Amorim has already impressed Man United chiefs ahead of first training session

Ruben Amorim has finally been given the green light to hold training sessions as Manchester United’s head coach.

It has been exactly one week since Ruben Amorim was welcomed to Carrington by CEO Omar Berrada.

However, work visa issues delayed him making a start in training. That has now been resolved and Ruben Amorim is set to hold training at Carrington on Monday.

There are currently 14 United players away on international duty so Amorim will be working with a reduced squad, but there are still a number of regular starters still in Manchester including Marcus Rashford.

Amorim will only have two training sessions with a full squad before his first match in charge away to Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon.

Man United chiefs already impressed by Ruben Amorim

Amorim has already had a big impact at the club before even stepping foot on the training ground.

Firstly, Amorim decided Ruud van Nistelrooy will not join his coaching staff, with the Dutchman now in pursuit of work elsewhere.

Amorim has also started to correct Erik ten Hag’s mistakes by promising fans a clear identity during his first games as manager.

But he has also made a great first impression with United’s leaders according to a report from the Daily Mail.

They claim United’s hierarchy have been impressed as Amorim “has carried an air of self-assurance and no little charisma during his first week at the club”.

What to expect from Ruben Amorim’s first match

During Amorim’s first interview as United boss, he promised fans that they will see “an idea” during his first match.

Amorim is expected to implement a 3-4-3 formation at United after enjoying huge success with it in Portugal.

That will naturally take time to coach into the players, but it seems United will line up in that system on Sunday afternoon against Ipswich Town.

Amorim made two promises before his first Sporting game which now make for very interesting reading ahead of his debut as United boss – he insisted he would keep his instructions simple after only working with players for a short time, while also pledging to put faith in youth.

That is something he will have to do at Old Trafford too with a number of exciting academy players knocking on the door of the first team.
