Mason Greenwood continues to be a regular starter away from Manchester United.
Since his loan move to Getafe, Mason Greenwood has established himself as one of the star players in the La Liga side’s first-team squad.
He’s been back in and among the goals and assists – with one of his strikes being a goal-of-the-season contender.
However, he may have featured in his most bonkers match yet as Getafe took on Valencia.

Mason Greenwood stars for Getafe vs Valencia
Greenwood starred in his most fiery fixture since his arrival in Spain. Getafe defeated Valencia 1-0 at the Estadio Coliseum.
The only goal of the game came four minutes before time when Borja Mayoral headed home expertly from a Juan Inglesias cross to give his side all three points.
But it was the referee’s performance that will take the headlines. He started by sending Valencia’s Gabriel Paulista off in the 50th minute for a dubious second yellow.
But it was the final few minutes after Mayoral’s strike where things got “fairly intense” according to the Viaplay Sports commentator.
Valencia striker Duro accidentally pushed the referee when trying to get the ball, to which the referee responded by sending, not him… but his teammate Javier Guerra off in the 88th!
Then, naturally, things got heated – which led to another straight red, this time for Getafe’s Domingos Duarte for alleged dissent.
It was terrible refereeing, but Greenwood won’t care – it meant he was on the winning side again for his new club.
How Mason Greenwood played for Getafe vs Valencia
Greenwood had a quiet one in this game amid the chaos.
His best moment came at 55 minutes when he got to the line on the right-hand side and played a dangerous ball across the face of goal which troubled the Valencia goalkeeper and forced a corner.
Other than this, Getafe didn’t make many chances at all, and the game was won by a moment of brilliance from Mayoral. Greenwood’s stats can be viewed below.
- 90 mins played
- 0 assists
- 0 goals
- 72 touches
- 1 shot blocked
- 1/8 successful crosses
