How many headers Wout Weghorst has scored in his career

At a staggering 6ft 6″ tall, Wout Weghorst will tower over many a Premier League defender.

With a team around him packed with talented players, expect Manchester United to maximise his qualities in a way Burnley could not.

This is a striker who was second only to Robert Lewandowski in Bundesliga scoring between 2018 and 2021.

But Weghorst is player who is more than simply a target man, as shown by the breakdown of his goals.

How many headers Wout Weghorst has scored

The number of headers Weghorst has scored is not as high as you may expect.

The Times reports Weghorst has netted only 36 headed goals in his career out of 170 strikes at club level.

He also scored two headed goals for the Netherlands, including one at the World Cup, taking his career tally to 38.

He is certainly no slouch in the air – as his diving header for Netherlands against Wales shows, which was assisted by Tyrell Malacia.

His 36 headers compares favourably to United star Anthony Martial for instance, who has scored only seven headed goals in his career, the same number as Marcus Rashford – so Weghorst has more than double their combined tally.

Weghorst counts 44 match winning goals in his career, with more than 100 of his goals coming in the second half of matches.

If Erik ten Hag does choose to utilise him as a super-sub or impact player, Weghorst will be ready for the call.

He has also scored 124 of his 125 club career goals from inside the penalty box, showing he is a real poacher.

This is an opportunity Weghorst has been waiting for, at the biggest club he has played for in his career. He will be determined to score as many goals as he can, however they go in.
