Aurelien Tchouameni continues to be linked with Manchester United, and he’s now proven why Ineos must pursue a move for him this summer.
Among Manchester United’s midfield options this summer is Frenchman Aurelien Tchouameni and he is currently gearing up for the World Cup.
Despite being considered arguably the finest defensive midfielder in Europe, United plotted a move for Tchouameni, which indicates there was a belief he would be available to sign this summer.
Madrid’s current stance is they want to keep Tchouameni, but United shouldn’t throw in the towel if there is a belief he can be signed. Now, his display against Northern Ireland has only furthered the belief he should be prioritised.

Aurelien Tchouameni proves his quality for France
France haven’t even travelled to the USA yet for the World Cup, but friendlies are being played back in Lille. This saw a clash with Northern Ireland on Monday.
Tchouameni managed 82 minutes for France during a 3-1 win, and he boasted some really impressive statistics.
- 3 key passes
- 82/84 passes completed (98%)
- 5/5 accurate long balls (100%)
- 103 touches
- 36 carries
- 10 defensive contributions
- 3/4 tackles won
- 3 interceptions
- 3 clearances
- 6 recoveries
- 7/7 duels won (100%)
Most impressive was both Tchouameni’s immaculate passing which allowed France to dominate the game from start to finish. But his defensive quality also shined through with a perfect record in duels, making light work of his opponents.
Obviously the level of opposition needs to be considered, but it remains an impressive performance which is worth highlighting.
Tchouameni would be game changing for United. If Jose Mourinho or Madrid even suggest he is available, Ineos must be all over it.
But he wasn’t the only target to impress.
How much should Man Utd pay to sign Aurelien Tchouameni? What would you consider a fair fee?
Do you think he would be the right fit for Man Utd?
Shea Charles also catches the eye of Manchester United
Along with Tchouameni, United have also been linked with Shea Charles, and he played in France’s 3-1 win, only on the opposition side.
This almost makes his display even more impressive considering he was in measurably worse team.
Charles assisted Northern Ireland’s goal and complemented his performance with some excellent passing and defensive output.
- 1 assist
- 1 big chance created
- 33/26 passes completed (92%)
- 2/2 long balls
- 51 touches
- 13 carries
- 7 defensive contributions
- 2/2 tackles
- 1 interception
- 3 clearances
- 2 recoveries
- 2/6 duels won
Tchouameni might have stole the show, but Charles showed he can’t be ignored and did so against one of the best teams in the world.
