Manchester United’s players are being consulted on the future of the club as Ineos look to make their mark.
New investors Ineos are currently reshaping the club behind the scenes, with Jason Wilcox expected to seal a move to the club as technical director.
Dan Ashworth will eventually follow as sporting director, with Omar Berrada already appointed as new chief executive.
As part of their restructure, Ineos have been holding one-to-one talks with the players, according to The Telegraph.
How Manchester United players responded to Ineos talks
Sir Dave Brailsford is Ineos’ man on the ground at Manchester United, maintaining a visible presence at matches and at Carrington.
Brailsford held one-to-one talks with almost every Manchester United player, to discuss their vision for the club and future plans, and also to collect feedback.
Per the report, the discussions have ‘impressed players and left them feeling optimistic over the future with Ineos now in charge of football operations.’
Previously, players and staff felt ‘in the dark’ about Manchester United’s plans under the Glazers. Now with Ineos taking on the main running of the football operations, there is optimism at the improved communications internally.
Erik ten Hag future off limits
One key topic was off limits during the discussion, the future of manager Erik ten Hag.
Ineos do not want to undermine the manager, and feedback on the Dutchman was not sought from the players.
Ten Hag is not 100 per cent to stay on, with Ineos letting the season play out. For now, they are planning for life with the Dutchman.
This is the sensible move, Manchester United still have two key objectives to strive for, battling for Champions League qualification, and also into the FA Cup semi-final.
