Ederson caught by surprise
Ederson will join up with the Brazil squad on Monday June 8, bringing an abrupt end to his post-season break.
According to ESPN Brasil, when he received the news, Ederson was in Campo Grande, a region in Brazil.
He was there to attend a wedding for his former Cruzeiro teammate Romulo. He received a ‘flurry of calls’ from Brazil’s CBF, explaining the situation.
It is claimed Ederson’s family was ‘ecstatic’, while he needed time to process the shock call.
The report states: “The entire family wept with emotion at seeing the 26-year-old realize the dream of every professional player.”
With little time to celebrate, Ederson was dispatched to catch a flight to the US, where he will meet up with the squad in New Jersey.

Wesley reacts to World Cup blow
Ederson’s call-up came after an injury sustained by Roma full-back Wesley.
He issued a statement on Instagram reacting to the unfortunate development in his own career.
He wrote: “Not every battle is won on the field. Today I have to interrupt a dream because of an injury. It hurts not being able to wear the Brazilian national team shirt right now, but those who know my story know that giving up was never an option.
“I have come a long way I’ve been through hardships, faced challenges, and had to overcome many obstacles just to get here. Nothing has been given to me Every achievement is built with hard work, faith, sacrifice and a lot of resilience.
