Thomas Tuchel will be at the front of the queue for the Manchester United job if Erik ten Hag is sacked.
The Manchester United hierarchy have met in London on Tuesday to discuss the current state of the club and Erik ten Hag‘s future will be high on the agenda.
The Dutchman is under huge pressure after a disappointing start to the season, and it is yet to be seen whether two draws against Porto and Aston Villa were enough for him to keep his job.
There is a chance that the goalless draw at Villa Park was Ten Hag’s last game in charge and Ineos could use the October international break to assess the 10 potential Ten Hag replacements.
Thomas Tuchel was on Ineos’ shortlist in the summer when they held talks with multiple managerial candidates, and the German will be in the running again if Ten Hag is sacked.

Thomas Tuchel came close to becoming Man United manager
There have been reports that Man United will open talks with Tuchel if Ten Hag is sacked.
The former Chelsea, PSG and Bayern Munich boss is currently unemployed after leaving the German giants at the end of last season.
Ineos interviewed multiple candidates for the managerial job over the summer when Ten Hag was under pressure before the FA Cup final. New details suggest he was very close to agreeing terms.
According to The Athletic, United duo Jason Wilcox and Sir Dave Brailsford held talks with Tuchel, Roberto De Zerbi, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank, Kieran McKenna, Marco Silva and Roberto Martinez.
They add that talks with Tuchel had progressed to a stage where they were discussing the financials of a contract.
However, Ineos eventually walked away from talks with Tuchel and put their faith behind Ten Hag after his success over Manchester City at Wembley.
Ten Hag was handed a one-year contract extension, which has now made the cost of sacking Ten Hag this season soar compared to the summer.
Thomas Tuchel as Man United manager
Ten Hag was given two games to turn things around by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and while he avoided defeat in both, he also failed to win either.
It only posed more questions to United’s hierarchy, who will ultimately decide his fate during their scheduled meeting on Tuesday.
It seems sporting director Dan Ashworth and CEO Omar Berrada were not heavily involved in the manager talks over the summer, but they will now be key players in the decision over Ten Hag.
If he is sacked, everything points towards Tuchel being his replacement. He has a very impressive CV, would come free of charge and has shown plenty of interest in taking the job.
It would cause a huge shake-up at Old Trafford and Tuchel’s arrival could be a problem for some players with the German known for using a very different style of play to Ten Hag.
