Hojlund hails two ‘incredible’ Manchester United team-mates after Luton win

Rasmus Hojlund is keen to share the praise around at Manchester United with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho in ‘incredible’ form too for the Premier League giants.

A month ago, as Manchester United toiled away to Newport County in the FA Cup fourth round, Rasmus Hojlund finally lost his rag after Garnacho again ran himself down a cul-de-sac rather than getting his head up and playing in a striker who had made yet another unseen run to the near post.

If there were any concerns of a rather strained relationship between two of the Red Devils’ rising stars, then such concerns have been clearly and rather emphatically dispelled over the last few weeks. Hojlund has scored five times in his four matches since that Newport clash, including two in a record-breaking display away to Luton Town on Sunday.

Manchester United’s front three getting better and better

He and Garnacho, meanwhile, could hardly look happier together on the pitch, the duo – along with midfield marvel Kobbie Mainoo – coming together to create a photo which could end up defining a generation at Old Trafford against West Ham a fortnight ago.

Garnacho also set up Hojlund’s second at Kenilworth Road, albeit in rather fortuitous circumstances. The Argentine’s wild strike was brilliantly diverted in by Hojlund, the latter falling into a fit of laugher as he recalled Garnacho’s wild-eyed claim to an ‘assist’ post-match.

“We want to make each other better,” Hojlund smiles, in quotes reported by CentreDevils on X. “We want to score. I’m in good form at the moment, but the other two guys (Garnacho and Rashford) are incredible too.

“I hope we score again, more.”

Rasmus Hojlund takes a seat alongside United legends

Hojlund is now the youngest player in Premier League history to score in six straight games. He is also only the fourth to do in Manchester United colours, a stat which puts him in rather elite company alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona and Ruud van Nistelrooy, who achieved the feat no fewer than three times under Sir Alex Ferguson.

“We had to manage some counter attacks better and we need to,” Hatters boss Rob Edwards tells Luton Today after Hojlund scored twice in the first seven minutes at Kenilworth Road. “It’s an area for us to focus on again.

“They have some moments with the quality and their speed. I think you look at Manchester United over the last, God knows how many years…

“They’ve always been a fast counter attacking team with a lot of quality. They’ve done it to bigger and better teams than us. It’s Marcus Rashford and Garnacho and Hojlund. These are big, big players, top players, who are very good and very quick.

“But there’s certain areas we can be better and stop those counter attacking moments.”
