Manchester United turned around a miserable first 45 minutes to claim a draw at away at Everton.
One of the low points early in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s managerial spell at Manchester United was the 4-0 away defeat at Everton in 2019. At half-time of the same fixture in 2025, it appeared Ruben Amorim’s side were heading the same way.
Ruben Amorim laid into his team, who managed to turn the 2-0 deficit around to claim a 2-2 draw. A hotly debated penalty call at the end saw United avoid ending with a loss.
There were a number of awful performances from United players. But one who stood out for positive reasons was Manuel Ugarte.

Fraizer Campbell on Manuel Ugarte
Former Manchester United academy striker Fraizer Campbell spoke to MUTV post-game to express his admiration for Manuel Ugarte’s performance.
Ugarte scored Manchester United’s equalising goal in the 2-2 draw, his first ever strike for the Red Devils.
The Uruguayan was excellent in possession, completing 91 per cent of his passes, winning two tackles and six duels.
Campbell said he was so impressed with Ugarte’s all-round display that he was unclear where exactly he was playing.
He said: “I didn’t know what position he was playing today, he seemed like he was everywhere, on thre right on the left in the middle. Then he popped up with a goal.
“He’s definitely a key player that we want to keep fit, he brings energy. He gets around the pitch a lot and he can help the team.”
Fellow pundit Wes Brown also praised Ugarte’s energy. He has been particularly strong away from home this season, starring in matches at Liverpool and Arsenal.
Fraizer Campbell on Chido Obi
Another player who was involved in the comeback was young striker Chido Obi, sent on as a 69th minute substitute.
Obi had 10 touches during that time, showing up Rasmus Hojlund who managed only 12 before being taken off.
Campbell believes the 17-year-old will benefit greatly from getting the opportunity.
He said: “That will be massive for him. Playing in the youth football is different, he’s a big strong lad, he can throw his weight around there, he can’t do that in the Premier League, he’s going to have to find a way to adapt his game a little bit and show his potential to the team.
“It’s all a learning curve, it’s a big step up, that 20 minutes that he got today will do him well, he’s got things to think about.
“Getting them minutes improves you as a player, and you think one day, hopefully, he’s fighting for his name on the starting sheet.”
