‘Haven’t got the…’ Paul Scholes launches brutal rant on Man Utd’s main bad habit, it happened vs Everton too

Manchester United have a lot of bad habits because a team doesn’t threaten to get engulfed in a relegation battle being good, but one has caught Paul Scholes’ eye.

Paul Scholes is not a popular man at Man Utd right now, especially after being recently called out by Lisandro Martinez for his comments on the Argentinian.

The pattern of ex-United players making things tricky for the club through their comments has been addressed before but it’s unlikely to ever stop.

In his latest rant, Scholes has called out the main bad habit at Man Utd which reared its head against Everton as well. For once, Ruben Amorim would agree with him!

Paul Scholes on Man Utd’s main bad habit

Ruben Amorim didn’t take charge of a flying team because if the team was flying, there would be no need for him to take charge in the first place!

Still, it is impossible to look at the league table and not come to the conclusion that things have gotten progressively worse, let alone a “new manager bounce”.

The team has forgotten how to score, especially in the first half, the midfield is covering acres of space, and the defence is shifty and nervous all the time.

Still, there’s another problem that Scholes identified that is becoming a pattern for the club and needs to be rectified soon.

Speaking on The Overlap, Scholes said: “We talk about the last 20 minutes [vs Everton] being really good and showing braveness, people praise it but you have to do that in the first 20 minutes.

“[Everton] was hostile, players had great energy, the crowd was on top of them. Where are you [Man Utd players] then? That’s when you win your games because you know at the end of 60 minutes, Everton have flown about everywhere so they will be wrecked. That last half hour is when you can win.

“They haven’t got the b*llocks to do that in the first 20 minutes/half an hour.” [Comments near the 39-minute mark]

Ruben Amorin and Bruno Fernandes agreed with Paul Scholes

For once, Scholes’ take is not an awful one even though his language is colourful as always.

After the game, Ruben Amorim delivered a brutal verdict along the same lines as what Scholes said above, while Bruno Fernandes also accepted that they started playing well after going down.

That will frustrate Man Utd fans to no end because this team repeatedly shows in bursts that they are nowhere near as bad enough as the results suggest.

Their ability to turn it on and play well on a whim confounds belief and has been the architect of the downfall of every manager before Amorim as well.

At some point, the manager needs to stop getting sacked and the players have to be challenged to do that regularly instead of turning it on and off.
