Cristiano Ronaldo saw himself as a leader at Manchester United, but his actions have rarely backed up his words.
Harry Maguire has not been the most popular player himself since Ronaldo’s arrival, with The Guardian reporting he could be sold next summer.
Maguire has not let that affect him, unlike Ronaldo’s latest hissy fit which looks destined to end his Manchester United career.
At the weekend, Maguire was left out of the team which beat Fulham, like Ronaldo – but only one player congratulated Alejandro Garnacho on his fantastic late winner.

Maguire sends message to Alejandro Garnacho
Garnacho’s 93rd minute goal sealed all three points at Craven Cottage to sign off for the World Cup on a high note.
Ronaldo made no comment at all on his social channels, surely knowing his explosive interview was about to drop.
Maguire sent a message to Garnacho congratulating the teenager as a ‘special talent’.
This was a nice tribute from the club captain, who noted that Garnacho embodied the ‘United way’.
Garnacho’s goal had ensured United ended before the break positively, bouncing back from the last weekend’s defeat to Aston Villa, in which Ronaldo had captained the side.
The teenager is a bright talent who Erik ten Hag had kind words for after the game – and he says he wants to find more top talents like Garnacho too.
Maguire’s message shows the admiration the club’s stars have for the teenager’s impact, and Garnacho deserves the plaudits.
