Manchester United will be facing Burnley in the Premier League once again next season after the Clarets clinched promotion.

The end of the season is now in sight and Manchester United have just one thing to play for – the Europa League.

Ruben Amorim saw United lose 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon, falling to yet another Premier League defeat.

United could still win the Europa League, having reached the semi-finals, but fans are looking for much better next season.

The Championship automatic promotion spots have already been decided, with United now knowing that Leeds United and Burnley are coming back up.

Leeds beat Stoke City before Burnley secured a win over Sheffield United later on Monday, sending both clubs back to the Premier League.

Harry Maguire sends message to Hannibal Mejbri

United have faced Leeds and Burnley so many times in the Premier League over recent years, and will now do so again next season.

This means a return to Old Trafford for midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.

United sold Mejbri to Burnley last summer, allowing the Tunisian to leave Old Trafford permanently after a disappointing loan spell at Sevilla.

The 22-year-old has taken on a key role at Burnley, playing 35 Championship games whilst registering one goal and three assists.

Hannibal scored for Burnley against Norwich last week, putting the Clarets on the brink of the Premier League.

With promotion now secured, Hannibal has taken to Instagram to celebrate, simply posting ‘Premier League’ alongside photos of the celebrations at Turf Moor.

Harry Maguire responded to his former United teammate, stating ‘well done mate’ alongside two clapping emojis.

Former United talents D’Mani Mellor, Ethan Galbraith, Maxi Oyedele, James Garner and Anthony Elanga added their congratulations for Hannibal, with the midfielder set for another Premier League chance.

Manchester United cash in on Hannibal promotion

Hannibal will be looking forward to facing United next season and will no doubt be looking to impress.

Burnley’s promotion now means that United will rake in a little more cash on Hannibal’s exit.

BBC Sport’s Simon Stone reports that United will earn a ‘six-figure sum’ from Burnley as a result of their promotion.

United inserted a promotion add-on into Hannibal’s departure and will now cash in on those terms.

Burnley were always one of the favourites to go up, but United will be pleased to get that extra financial boost; it isn’t much, but every little helps at United right now.
