After making his 250th appearance for Manchester United, Harry Maguire joins a list of over 70 players to reach the milestone.
Harry Maguire was named in Ruben Amorim’s starting line-up for the first time this season when Manchester United beat Chelsea 2-1 on Saturday.
After previously making three substitute appearances, Maguire was named in the back three before being replaced by Leny Yoro after 70 minutes. It came as a shock at the time because the young French defender had started all four of United’s Premier League games until the weekend.
Maguire was immense in the centre of United’s three-man defence, with Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw impressing on either side.
To make the occasion more special for Maguire, it marked his 250th appearance as a United player. It’s an incredible achievement for a player who has bounced back from being a scapegoat in previous United teams.
Former teammate Nemanja Matic was among the first to congratulate Maguire on his latest career milestone.

Harry Maguire reflects on 250th Man Utd appearance
It’s an incredible achievement to make 250 appearances for United, but Maguire is aiming for more.
Maguire became the third player from the current United first-team to make 250 appearances, alongside Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw.
There were times when Maguire was written off by critics, but his resilience shone through, and now he is one of Amorim’s leaders in the dressing room due to his valuable experience.
Maguire joined United from Leicester City in 2019 as one of the club’s most expensive signings. He has reflected positively on his latest milestone for the club.
“To play that amount of games is a huge privilege,” Maguire told ManUtd.com.
“The dream of a young kid, growing up in Sheffield, to play one game for Manchester United would have been a dream come true, but to play 250 I feel really lucky, really grateful. Hopefully [there’s] many more to come and some good memories to come along with it.”
Maguire is under contract at United until June 2026. It remains to be seen if he will be given an extension at the end of that.
It says a lot that United turned down approaches for Maguire in the summer.
Furthermore, it is understood that Amorim was really appreciative of Maguire following the win over Chelsea.
