Harry Maguire makes confident statement about United future

Harry Maguire has opened up about his future at Manchester United this summer after the club signed Leny Yoro.

Manchester United confirmed the signing of Lille centre-back Leny Yoro last week, with the Frenchman snubbing interest from Real Madrid to sign for the Red Devils.

Yoro made his debut against Rangers during the pre-season friendly and the French teenager looked superb for the Red Devils against the Scottish giants.

United reportedly want to add a second centre-back to their list of options this summer following the loss of Frenchman Raphael Varane, who left the club on a free.

This has naturally led to questions over the future of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

Maguire opens up on United future

United have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich defender Matthijs De Ligt and this would surely lead to questions over the future of Maguire.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Leicester City defender, who was consistent for the Red Devils last season, spoke about his future at Old Trafford.

It was a real tough moment in my career, probably the toughest moment in my career to date, really,” he said when asked about the injury that kept him out towards the end of last season.

“To get myself in a position where all year I’ve worked hard to play at the end of the season, to play in these big games, these cup finals, and then go to the Euros and try and win the tournament for the country.”

“Everything I have heard and the action I have been shown from the club is that I’m part of the future and it’s time to crack on, and try and make this club successful again and challenge for the big trophies, because that’s what it demands.”

United would be wise to keep Maguire this summer

Maguire, as mentioned, was key for the Red Devils last season due to the injury issues Lisandro Martinez had to deal with.

Wes Brown believes there is still a place in the United squad for Maguire and the Englishman would represent a good option.

Having Maguire, Martinez and Leny Yoro as options would certainly be nothing to scoff at and this depth would be key.

Jonny Evans can also fill in so United would certainly be wise to hold onto the Englishman.
