Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire is not going to Euro 2024 with England, having to pull out through injury.
The news broke that the veteran English centre-half will not be attending his fourth major tournament with England because he sustained a calf injury.
It came as a massive shock to the footballing world. Maguire is a regular in the England side. He’s going to be a massive miss as the Three Lions jet off to Germany.
The 30-year-old has broken his silence on social media following the terrible news.

Maguire too to X, formerly known as Twitter, to post a heartfelt message on his annoyance to be missing the competition through injury.
He stated: ‘I am devastated not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer. Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to overcome an injury to my calf.’
‘Maybe I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it. Simply, I am absolutely gutted. For me, representing England is the highest honour.’
‘It means everything to me. If I can’t help the team as a player, I will support them as a fan – along with the rest of the country. Go and win it boys.’
‘Next, I will return to the supervision of the Manchester United medical team in order to prepare for next season.’
England teammate Harry Kane and Manchester United club legend Gary Neville commented on his Instagram post with the following:

From a selfish standpoint, the Maguire injury is good news for Manchester United. He gets a full summer of rest and recovery ahead of the 24/25 campaign.
However, everyone knows how good Maguire is for England, and his statement shows just how much he loves playing for his country.
