Harry Kane sends message ahead of Bayern showdown, Manchester United must pay attention

Manchester United suffered an awful result at the weekend, and so did upcoming opponents Bayern Munich.

Losing 3-0 at home to Bournemouth was a grim result for Manchester United at Old Trafford, especially when that was supposed to be the one ‘easy’ fixture this month.

Upcoming opponents Bayern Munich did not have a good weekend themselves either. They were thrashed 5-1 away at Frankfurt.

The result leaves Bayern four points off leaders Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga.

Harry Kane reacts to Bayern loss

Bayern’s result could be good news for Manchester United, showing how fallible the German side are despite their 100 per cent record in the Champions League group stages.

But it may also work out to be very bad news, with Bayern unlikely to risk a repeat, and will take the United game seriously to show a response.

Star striker Harry Kane indicated it will be the latter, displaying his motivation with a message on Instagram.

He wrote: “We know yesterday wasn’t good enough and full focus now on Tuesday to show the right reaction 💪”

Bayern had a full team out against Stuttgart too, something went wrong for Thomas Tuchel’s side and they will be keen to make amends in Manchester.

How Manchester United can qualify

Despite winning only one match from five games and losing three, Manchester United can still qualify for the Champions League knockout phase.

United must beat Bayern, and then hope Copenhagen v Galatasaray ends in a draw.

There is just a six per cent chance of this outcome happening, data shows. Some may say this generous after the weekend’s performance.
