Manchester United have dropped a hint Hannibal Mejbri will be with the first team this weekend after he was pictured in training with the first team squad again.
While the under-23s flew to Monaco for a warm weather training and a friendly match, Hannibal was at Carrington with the first team.
This was a firm indication of how Ralf Rangnick views him, ahead of this weekend’s match at Old Trafford against Norwich.
Hannibal was on the bench against Everton last weekend but was not selected. Nor was he expected to be, having played a under-23 game on the Friday night.
This weekend is a little different as the under-23s do not have a game. And with United facing the team at the bottom of the Premier League, there is a good chance Hannibal may see some action.
In comments made to the club website this week, former star Wes Brown described Hannibal as a player who can ‘change games’ and recommended the Red Devils consider him this weekend.
Including the 19-year-old Tunisia international may also be a positive way to get disengaged fans back onside this weekend and add an element of excitement to the game.
He was pictured above taking on experienced midfielder Nemanja Matic in Wednesday’s training session.
Ronaldo returns
After limping off against Everton with an injury, there was good news over Cristiano Ronaldo as he was pictured back in training ahead of the weekend.
There was still no sign of Edinson Cavani, as he continues his recovery from a calf injury sustained in the international break.
There was no sign of Fred or Scott McTominay in the pictures released by United, with both players battling injuries and at risk of missing the weekend’s game.
The absentees may enhance Hannibal’s chances of game time in the fixture.
